27 & 28 september: DORE & REES AND SUSAN RUMFITT FINE JEWELLERY TO HOLD VALUATION DAYS IN YORKSHIRE
Fine jewellery specialist Susan Rumfitt and Asian Art expert Lee Young are holding valuation days in Harrogate.
Rare opportunity to have your Asian Art valued in Yorkshire
27 & 28 SEPTEMBER
A rare opportunity for people in Yorkshire and the North East to find out how much their Asian antiques are worth is on offer in Harrogate later this month.
Jewellery specialist Susan Rumfitt is hosting two valuation days at her Harrogate gallery, in collaboration with Asian Art specialist Lee Young.
Susan and Lee, who are well-known faces on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, are inviting people to bring along their fine jewellery and Asian antiques for a no-obligation valuation ahead of two auctions later this year.
Susan said: “Experts in the field of Asian Art can be hard to find for valuations in the North of England, so I’m delighted to be hosting Lee and his team here in Harrogate.”
Alongside Lee, Susan will be appraising and valuing items of fine jewellery and is particularly interested in seeing jade and Art Deco pieces.
Asian Art covers a range of items including sculptures, paintings, porcelain, carvings, woodblock prints, calligraphy, furniture and antiques.
Lee said: “I am very excited to be joining Susan in Harrogate to discover the range of Asian Art that people in Yorkshire and the North East have in their possession. As with all valuation events, the joy is in helping people understand more about the history and value of the pieces they own. We are also, of course, hoping to find a real treasure among them that takes our breath away. Any item with a link to the Imperial family would be amazing.”
Lee said that recent world events had not dampened the booming Chinese art market, which continued to attract strong attention from collectors globally.
He added: “World record prices are commonplace for the best examples from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, along with highly prized objects that once graced the interiors of the Imperial Palaces. We’re seeing fine examples of ceramics, jade and bronzes from key dynasties, alongside calligraphy, paintings, artworks in cloisonné, enamel and wood.”
The event in Harrogate will also be of interest to anyone with a passion for Asian Art but without an item to value, as it will feature a talk from Lee about the Asian Art auction market. There will also be the chance to view a number of selected pieces from the Dore & Rees auction house in Frome, Somerset, where Lee is Managing Director and Head of Asian Art, and Susan is Head of Jewellery.
The Jewellery and Asian Art Valuation Days run on September 27th and 28th at the Susan Rumfitt Fine Jewellery Gallery in Harrogate town centre. To register your interest in having an item valued, please fill in the form at www.susanrumfitt.com/auction-services/ or call 01423 705 198.
