4 NOVEMBER TALK: SUSAN RUMFITT ‘PASSIONATE COLLECTOR - HOW THE ASIAN BUYER IS INFLUENCING THE GLOBAL JEWELLERY MARKET AT AUCTION’

TALK: PASSIONATE Collector – How the Asian buyer is influencing the GLOBAL jewellery market at auction
SUSAN RUMFITT

MONDAY 4 november
2:00 pm
AT ASIA HOUSE, 63 NEW CAVENDISH STREET, LONDON W1G 7LP

LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE

Susan will uncover how Asian buyers are now being influenced by the provenance and creative elements of antique jewellery and looking beyond brand names, diamonds, Jade and coloured stones when buying for their collections.  Considering global auction highlights and important collections, such as the Albion collection in Tokyo, Susan will illustrate how there is a new interest in Edwardian Jewellery and specialised items such as antique cameos, intaglios and micromosaic Jewellery.

Aspirational Millennials and the traditional collector are influencing global sales as they are not just looking at financial return on their purchases but building a collection that is thought-provoking, unique, and inspirational.  Auction houses are adapting to this change. Susan will explore how they are evolving and embracing this new and exciting era of collecting.

Susan Rumfitt established her jewellery gallery in Harrogate in 2006 and is delighted to partner with Dore & Rees in her role as Head of Jewellery. The early part of her career was spent with Christie’s and then she joined Phillips. Susan has built up a loyal following, offering advice to collectors, buyers and sellers of fine jewellery. She is also active in assisting clients with their jewellery valuations, repairs and redesign requirements. Susan also runs an extensive lecture program at her gallery, which focuses on jewellery history and design. Her passion for jewellery and her intimate knowledge will bring a unique dimension to the auctions. Susan is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, an accredited lecturer for the Arts Society, as well as a well-known expert on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.

A selection of highlight lots from Susan’s forthcoming auction of Fine Jewellery and Watches, to be held on 27 November, will be viewing at Asia House as follows:
